Onboard extends Thomson contract with c. $2M retail system deal

Onboard Retail Solutions is delighted to announce a major new contract with the TUI Group's UK airline Thomson Airways for its latest in-flight retailing system.

Thomson has used Onboard's in-flight retail management software for over a decade. The new contract upgrades Thomson to the next generation full onboard retail solution -onBOS&trade. Additionally, Onboard is upgrading Thomson's current handheld point of sale terminals to the latest market leading technology - Bluebird BIP1300, with fully certified Chip & PIN functionality.

onBOS&trade is used by many of the world leading airlines and rail operators and is specifically designed to optimise onboard revenue and profitability by giving onboard retailers complete visibility and control of the entire retail process from the warehouse through to sales onboard and back again.

Says Onboard's CEO Thomas Drohan: 'Thomson Airways are pioneers in next generation in-flight retail opportunities and we are delighted that they have chosen Onboard to partner them in their future development both in-flight and on the ground. They are certainly very keen on developing their VIP (Virtual Inventory Products) business and we are confident that this could dramatically improve their ancillary revenue business.'

As part of the new contract, Thomson Airways will be using the latest Onboard Management Dashboard. This tool is designed to display key information for each user of the system in graphical gauge and graph format with the ability to drill down into more detailed information. Each user can configure the information they want on their dashboard via an intuitive drag and drop mechanism.

This programme of work will ensure that we can offer our customers more reliable transactions onboard our flights and ensure that this data is transmitted to Head Office more efficiently.'
