Onboard to provide POS systems for SAS Group
Onboard Retail Solutions is delighted to announce that it will become the supplier of all SAS Group's Point-Of-Sale (POS) technology for its inflight retail operations, via its partnership with Inflight Service Europe (IFS). Onboard has been working with IFS since 2005 and, through the association, provides inflight POS systems for Air Finland, Malmo Aviation, Novair, Primera and TUlfly Nordic.
Onboard has worked closely with IFS in developing the very best inflight technology; its onPOS application, for example, being enhanced by both companies in order to satisfy specific customer requirements for duty free, food and beverage and pre-order sales. For SAS Group, IFS will be using Onboard?s latest technology based on the BIP-1300 POS device, which will incorporate the most secure and up to date credit card and Chip & PIN technology and will use the new onPOS software.
In addition, Onboard has recently incorporated new software operating between the IFS 'Back Office' and its own inflight technology operating onboard the aircraft. This application secures wireless data transmissions between the two, ensuring that all credit card transactions are totally secure.
'The onboard retail contract awarded by SAS Group to Inflight Service Europe is fantastic news for us at Onboard,' says CEO Thomas Drohan. 'We have an excellent ongoing business partnership with IFS and are very excited about this new project. We are confident that SAS will be delighted with the benefits that our technology will bring to its inflight and pre-order services.'
Onboard Retail Solutions was formed 13 years ago to provide specialist solutions to the onboard retail market and has worked with major airlines globally including Air Arabia, Air France British Airways, Flybe, Malaysian Airlines, Monarch Airlines and Etihad. 'Our breadth of experience will enable us, in partnership with IFS, to provide SAS with the most comprehensive retail platform to help better control, manage and increase onboard retail sales,' continues Onboard's sales and marketing director Dan Hayter. 'In a time when revenue and profitability from non ticket sales is more important than ever, Onboard, in partnership with IFS, is able to implement increasingly innovative onboard retailing initiatives which we are sure will be of the greatest benefit for SAS in the future.'
Roland Bergh, IFS IT Director, adds: 'IFS enjoys an first-rate working relationship with Onboard and we are confident that they will continue to provide us with exceptional service as an integral element of our contract with SAS Group. We will continue to work closely with Onboard to develop the very best inflight POS technology and backup service for all our airline partners.'
